Page awaiting contributions !

I am hoping to feature here pictures submitted by modellers or taken at shows etc of Battle of Britain subjects. Not only aircraft but also figures,Anti Aircraft defences, Observer Corps, Radar, Civil Defence, Pilots and groundcrew etc. If you have a well made model, please contact me via contact button. I shall be looking for models that are of a higher standard than normal for aircraft in order to keep the site standards high where possible, e.g. something that when placed into a real scene would not look at first glance like a model. It may be that for a suitable backdrop I do this anyway. For this 'level view' gallery idea where your models appear in real scenes I would need models photographed in daylight with lens centre at 36mm (1.43inches) above model base for 1/48 scale, 55mm (2.15inch) for 1/32 scale and 73mm (2.9inch) for 1/24 scale. Take a piece of card of this height and sight the lens view along its top to achieve horizontal photography at a scale human eye height.

Depth of field is important, the entire model must be in focus so use a tripod and an aperture of f16 or f22 for 35mm film. Digital allegedly gives greater dof so perhaps a wider aperture may be ok. Also it works to photograph further away than usual then crop and enlarge the shot.

A suitable background for the photos here in the gallery could be standardised if models are photographed with a sheet of coloured card behind them. I can convert the colour hopefully to the same hue for each photo, however a light blue as a start would be welcome ! As models of Anti Aircraft guns, Observer Corps posts, etc are not often seen, I would be interested to see any photo, the entry standards I shall lower for such rarities. Pilot and groundcrew figures are also sought, ideally photographed at the subject, not down at the subject. Once models start appearing here you will no doubt get the idea, No one as yet has anything of a suitable standard both build wise and focus wise it would seem.

I would like to see more aspects of the Battle of Britain represented in model form, either modified kit, or scratchbuilt. Most modellers seem only able to make something if it is already boxed ! Scenes like bomb disposal, ARP rescue, pilots at dispersal, radar towers, 3.7inch AA emplacement and so on I have yet to see yet would make interesting dioramas from what was the most important Battle of WW2 to win.
