How to set the pc for this
sites intended resolution and text size
plus other useful screen improvements for your general pc use.
This site is designed at the resolution 1024x768
because of the need
to display the
Rowan Flight Sim screen stills at the resolution they
were captured and flown at,
in order to portray the quality of the
'non-blotching' results of the special pixel patterns
developed by BOBC.
As a result of the need for this resolution, it provides far greater design
scope anyway !
To set resolution and colour, right click on your pc desktop image and choose properties, choose settings and alter to 1024x768, 32bit or possibly 24bit if pc struggles, and ok it, a prompt will ask if you wish to keep the setting, go yes. Beware, some pc's are set to reboot following a change of this setting so ensure everything is saved that you were working on first. Secondly, there is a useful setting in the properties of your graphics card to remember screen icon positions, well worth ticking otherwise icons move as a result of a resolution change. Finally, older video cards may not support this resolution and colour but it is perfectly ok for recent pc's. Disclaimer....it is your choice and these notes are from my own experience, on your head be it !
The default setting for text in IE5 or higher is Medium (I am told), to set this go to the top menu, choose View - Text Size - Medium, the smaller options are worth trying for web pages requiring lots of scrolling !
Many pc's have never had their monitor brightness and contrast correctly set up. Click on this CALIBRATION CHART text to download a 1024x768 screen chart. Place the file in your WINDOWS folder, right click on desktop and choose properties and background, choose the calibration chart and you may need to select center, and ok it all. Now adjust CONTRAST until you are happy with the intensity of the white and darkness of the black, then adjust BRIGHTNESS controls until the spot within the white and black ends of the chart just about shows as different to the square its in.
